Description:An installation in four parts consisting of an oversized postcard printed on both sides, a 7-minute video in three languages (German, Italian, English) including a monitor, and two oversized apple measuring rings, one upright and one on its side. Edition 3/3 + 1 AP.
Hist. crit. notes:Every second apple picked in Italy and every tenth apple harvested in Europe comes from South Tyrol. One of the most popular varieties is sold under the brand name “Pink Lady”, which guarantees a worldwide quality standard: always the same taste, colour, and size. The “Pink Lady” installation addresses this branch of agriculture as a field of activity that is simultaneously globalised, steeped in tradition and strictly regulated, but also romanticised and picturesque: the film shows a magnificent festival float with a crown featuring over 600 kilograms of apples, while there are also texts on the consequences of global classification systems. An enlarged historical postcard places the focus on the blossoming apple orchards in the style of an advertisement, while two reflective steel sculptures in the form of oversized apple measuring instruments seem to analyse the entire scene.
