Description:Alpine landscape with rocks and large stones, a dairyman or dairywoman on his way to a hut, a herd, and a deep, wide plain in the background. Signed in italics in brush lower left, signature illegible. On the verso center, the company stamp in block capitals: "MALTUCH & FARBEN-FABRIK / von RICHARD WURM / MUNICH."
Hist. crit. notes:Paint manufacturer Richard Wurm (1863-1925), Munich. The Tyrolean painters Albin Egger-Lienz and Leo Putz are also known to have purchased materials from Richard Wurm. Further information can be found in:

This work was created as part of the DFG project "Tempera Painting around 1900" based at the Doerner Institute in Munich. The initial task was to evaluate the known, but previously undocumented, collection of letters and orders addressed to the Munich paint manufacturer Richard Wurm in the Bavarian State Library (BSB-ANA 416, hereinafter also referred to as NLRW) with regard to statements regarding the oil tempera developed by him ("Wurm Tempera"). In addition, the corresponding correspondence collection of the Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus (hereinafter abbreviated to BL) was also treated accordingly. [...]
The second section of the work contains a tabular overview of the Wurm company's known and surviving correspondence, including biographical information on the individual artists, reproductions of the content (partly in transcription), and commentaries on painting techniques and art technology around 1900.
