Description:Farbfotografie, Ed. 1/2 + 1 AP. Dokumentation der Installation einer 2-teiligen zusammenhängenden Fahne aus bunten Kletterseilen, in welche die Wörter „TRUE“ und „LIE“ geknüpft sind. Die Arbeit, bestehend aus 400 m Material, war Teil des Kunstprojekts „Bivacco“ anlässlich der 58. Kunstbiennale 2019 auf der Insel San Servolo in Venedig, bei dem Werke von sieben Südtiroler Kunstschaffenden ausgestellt wurden: von Jacopo Candotti, Nicolò Degiorgis, Hannes Egger, Julia Frank, Simon Perathoner, Leander Schönweger, Maria Walcher. Auf der Rückseite des Fotos und des Rückwandkartons mit Graphit bezeichnet, datiert und signiert: "True Lie, 2019 1/2 (+ 1 AP) Julia Frank".
Hist. crit. notes:The bivouac is named after Günther Messner who tragically died on the Nanga Parbat in 1970. In the year 2000, a bone fragment was found which DNA analysis attributed to him. Taking her cue form this, Julia Frank has installed two flags made of multicolored ropes on both sides of the bivouac. She has composed the words “lie” and “true” out of knots on the flags, reminding us how Günther Messner’s version of the accident is lost with his death.
